EMOTIONS IN LANGUAGE AND LANGUAGE BEHAVIOUR: DESCRIPTION, EXPRESSION AND REFLECTION OF EMOTIONS

Author:  Piotrovskaya L.A.

Affiliation:  Russian State Pedagogical University named after A.I. Herzen

Abstract:  The aim of the report is to prove that the dual-system approach claiming the opposition of the only two fields of emotions, “the language of description of emotions” and “the language of expression of emotions”, could not be recognized as quite satisfactory because of ignoring the difference between emotional states and emotional reactions. The dual-system approach is in conflict with the statements made by both contemporary psychologists and linguists. The author proposes the new model, which proclaims the necessity to opposite three “fields of emotions”, including description, expression and reflection of emotions.

Keywords:  description of emotions, expression of emotions, reflection of emotions
