CONTROVERSIAL ADVERTISING TEXTS: PROBLEMS OF INTERPRETATION

Abstract:  The article raises the problem of revealing implicit meaning in controversial advertising texts. Advertising texts are in the area of high speech responsibility as they operate in the legislative field. The ambiguity in understanding implicitly expressed information by the addressee is the focus of the authors’ attention. Implicit information also causes difficulties in the process of linguistic expertise of advertising texts. The article proposes an algorithm for complex investigation to identify the covert meaning of the statement in its interpretation by the target audience.
