Abstract:  In the debate between followers of universalism and language determinism linguists usually consider the worldview as it is perceived through various languages. In order to confirm or disprove the hypothesis on the existence of a link between a particular language and the mentality of its native speakers we propose to compare the data obtained from native speakers of the same language but belonging to different social and cultural communities. For this we undertook an experiment by creating the Dictionary of associative norms of Francophonie. The paper presents comparison results of associative fields (according to various methods) of french native speakers from France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada.

Keywords:  dictionary of associations norms, French language in the world, internal lexicon
