NICKNAME AND PSEUDONYM: COGNITIVE AND FUNCTIONAL APPROACH

Abstract:  The abstract presents the results of nicknames and pseudonyms analysis in cognitive and functional approach. The following issues are shown: the nickname and pseudonym origin, cognitive mechanisms of their construction, their functions in discourse. The author analyses how pseudonyms and nicknames influence the perception of the person they belong to. Cognitive onomastics is presented as a new and productive field of cognitive linguistics.
