APPENDED MODIFIERS AS MEANS OF COORDINATING SPEAKER-RECIPIENT INTERACTION

Abstract:  The article deals with the appended modifier as a sentence component which has the formal and functional features of the member of the sentence that it modifies or particularizes and explores the speaker’s motive when using the appended modifier. The author considers the interaction of cognitive meanings of the appended modifier and the part of the utterance being modified or particularized.
