METAPHORICAL CONCEPTUALIZATION OF FAMILY RELATIONSHIP: COGNITIVE, IDEOGRAPHIC AND CORPUS-BASED APPROACHES

Abstract:  The report shows some of the possibilities of using the corpus-based approach to the conceptualization and categorization of the world coupled with achievements of ideographic lexicography and cognitive linguistics. Much attention is given to the cognitive view of metaphor and its conceptualizing function permitting to construct metaphorical models and to reveal universal peculiarities as well as national specificity of family relationship sphere as it is reflected in language.
