IRONIC MEANING FROM A COGNITIVE PERSPECTIVE

Abstract:  Ironic meaning is interpreted as a result of conceptual integration between semantic of ironic utterance and discursive semantic. Depending on the kind of knowledge, which is necessary for understanding of ironic meaning – textual or discursive – the author distinguish between textual and discursive incoherence of ironic meaning.
