INTERPRETATIONAL PROCEDURES IN MEANING FORMATION OF TWO GROUPS OF RELATIVE ADJECTIVES

Abstract:  The article refers to the meaning-formation procedures of substance-predicate and argument-predicate adjectives. The substance-predicate adjectives enter the integral concepts as sensory images and specify their meaning in discourse due to the operation of profiling. The role of the argument-predicate adjectives is to evoke in mind a complex concept and for that they need complex cognitive interpretational procedures.
