Abstract: The author investigates the characteristic features of the representation of KNOWLEDGE in the texts of the French folk-tales. The conclusion is that KNOWLEDGE in them is the ideal capacity of the main hero to change and use this world in his own interests. That is the main feature that makes him different from all the other heroes.
