Abstract:  Categorization is a fundamental cognitive operation. People constantly categorize things consciously and subconsciously. The following questions in connection with Metaphor Theory are still sharp for discussion: Which categories are activated in the given situation? How, if ever, are the corresponding concepts (domains, in our case) updated with experience? How does the salient member of a category help to create a metaphor?

Keywords:  metaphor, category, categorization, Conceptual Metaphor Theory, concept
