PROBLEM OF METAPHORICAL NOMINATION IN ECOLOGICAL SCIENCE

Abstract: 

The paper studies the problem of metaphorical nomination in the environmental science. The metaphor is considered as a complex mental space that during the process of cognition is associated with the simpler mental space. In the ecological science, particularly in the ecological terminology, with the nomination of the special scientific concepts through metaphor, its comparison with the conventional concepts take place. Thus, their specific characteristics are profiled. A number of the examples, presented in this paper, confirm this fact.
