Abstract

Perceiving the character, his/ her identification on the level of the sensual experi-ence presuppose the following three phases: 1) coding; 2) comparison; 2) emotional reaction. In the phase of coding the reader evaluates the ethic component, the character’s aesthetic and epistemic peculiarities in particular situational contexts; the phase of comparison refers to the evaluation of the character’s specific characteristics through the prism of one’s own view on the objective world, identification of those his/ her features which are owned by the reader himself/ herself; in the phase of emotional reaction between the character and reader the relations of empathy / antipa-thy are created.
