Abstract: The article deals with the heroic deeds performed by our contemporaries and described in the texts of journalistic discourse, as axiogenic situations. The study demonstrates the relationship between the heroic images of a certain culture and its national values. Furthermore, we confirm the idea that heroes are those ordinary folks who are moved to an heroic deed in a specific situation at a particular time.
