DIRECT VS. INDIRECT NAMING: DYNAMIC TRANSFERS IN TEXT

Abstract: 

The article focuses on varieties of transfer within the scale direct – indirect naming in the text. It is pointed out that this transfer results from categorial shifts in conceptual referent construal. Particular attention is given to three types of categories: contrasting, contiguous and family ones which may represent the integrating conceptualizations of a referent. Family categories are shown to serve as a means of direct / conventionalized naming construal, whereas family resemblances may result from the textual situation.
