COGNITIVE MECHANISMS OF THE TRANSLATOR’S TASKS RESOLVING

Abstract: 
This article is aimed to explore the nature of specific cognitive mechanisms providing the effectiveness of the translation process and helping to reveal the semantic and communicative potential of the language sign. The conceptual structures shaping the peculiarities of the mode of expression characteristic of the given language community determine the choice of words in the process of communication and word combinability. Taking into consideration the information about the conceptual inner form in the translation process helps to minimize translator’s mistakes or inaccuracy of expression. The detailed studying of a given context, elaboration and defining of the conceptual meanings contribute finally to the unveiling of the communicative function of the text under investigation.
