Abstract
The article reveals the notion “cognitive derivatology” which includes two principal directions in the research of mental bases of word-formation process: the introduction of new conceptual formation and the cognitive basis of word-formation. In both cases, linguists recognize the appearance of the secondary structure of knowledge. The main method of cognitive derivatology is a propositional frame analysis.
