Abstract:
In the article the novel by German author of Weimar Republiс Erik Reger «Union der festen Hand» is presented. According to Reger’s esthetical positions the modern artist should be a publicist, paying attention to actual sociologic tendencies but not to the private life of characters. Therefore the structure of his novel is transformed: there is a collective character, which is acting, the plot is developing not because of the decisions taken by characters, but due to the historical developments. The composition of the novel includes parts which are non-fictional: analysis of economic tendencies, statistical data. In the novel there is a complicated unity of fiction and publicism.
