Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of a highly popular phenomenon of the modern English language – disphemy. The work represents the main cognitive-pragmatic functions of disphemisms and highlights the reasons of their frequent usage, establishing the socio-pshychological references in the process of speech disphemisation.
