Abstract:
The article considers the representation of exaggeration by hyperbole. The problem of interaction of language and cognitive mechanisms is analyzed in the German language. The problem of cognitive modeling of exaggeration is discussed. Features of linguistic phenomenon of hyperbole as a regular method of exaggeration are described primarily by the example of lexical units of various structural and semantic content. The concept of cognitive dissonance is proposed for understanding conceptual foundations of hyperbole.
