SEMIOTIC BASES OF A VERBAL SIMILE

Abstract: 
The article focuses on the semiotic stage of cognition reflected in a simile. It is shown that in the course of event interpretation a cognizing person finds simultaneous support in the signs based on similarity (symbol, icon) and in the signs based on the link with some object (index).
