Abstract
In the present paper the author focuses attention on the notion of cognitive con-text and analyzes its role in word sense disambiguation. Cognitive context is interpreted as a mental representation of a complex nature. The author postulates that each meaning of a polysemous word is associated with a particular cognitive context. A combination of all cognitive contexts associated with all the meanings of a polysemous word makes a complex mental representation.
