Abstract:
The article focuses upon cognitive mechanisms of semantic shifts in temporal lexemes as seen from the analysis of substantival constructions with the adjective “v'echnyj” (“eternal”) presented in Russian National Corpus. Their inner semantic structure, possible usage and axiological (value-based) senses are analyses, as well as major cognitive shifts that resulted in their change of both temporal and axiological meanings in the eighteenth century.
