COGNITIVE MECHANISMS OF A COMMUNICANT’S NONVERBAL EVADING A DIRECT ANSWER (with examples in the English language)

Abstract: 
In this paper the author gives the description of the strategy of evading a direct answer (with examples in the English language) within the limits of the diplomatic communication scenario. In the research the data on linguistics of language and psy-chology of a dialogue are synthesized, the analysis of nonverbal markers in the strat-egy of evading a direct answer is done. The author reveals the nonverbal markers playing a significant role within the limits of the strategy of evading a direct answer and allowing the speaker to regulate his own speech behaviour, to “lull” the inter-locutor’s communicative vigilance, to hide, veil his own communicative purpose.
