THE SPECIFICITY OF CONCEPTUALIZING THE SPATIAL AREAS ‘UP’ AND ‘DOWN’ IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract: 
The article deals with spatial concepts ‘VERKH (UP)’ and ‘NIZ (DOWN)’ in the Russian language. The description of this opposition proposed in the article was made by working on the project of Lingoacultural dictionary of concepts under the supervision of Prof. Babenko L. Mental components of the concepts are withdrawn from semantic and pragmatic features of linguistic means. There are considered si-milarity and difference between these concepts.
