SEMANTICS OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS FROM FORCE DYNAMICS PERSPECTIVE: a case of English magazine discourse

Abstract
In English magazine articles phraseological units represent events from the perspective of force relations portraying successful participants as Agonist, i.e. a focal force, with a tendency to motion. Negatively characterized agents are referred to as weaker Agonist with a tendency towards rest or extreme motion or Antagonist with a tendency to motion.
