Abstract:
The problem of wide, contextually dependent meaning (euresemy) is analyzed in the paper, and description of meanings of adjective GOOD is used as an example to explain the problem. The english adjective GOOD connotes with a number of re-ferents which can be clustered into thematic groups. Changeability of meanings, va-riety of referents, versatility of dependent thematic groups may be the reason to clas-sify the adjective GOOD as the one with wide / euresemic meaning.
