Abstract:
The Peircean model of semiosis, interpreter inclusive, allows a two-way application: both for interpretation and generation of signs-as-tokens – they are united by the same impulse of creativity. Generation of signs-as-tokens goes on through several stages: thinking – language data, speech and finishes in discourse. So, it is argued here that the cognitive approach to language studies should be performed on the basis of the tetrachotomic cognitive principle (thinking – language – speech – discourse).
Keywords: tetrachotomy, intentionality, unconscious, semiosis, sign-as-token, signifying, cogniotype.
