Abstract
The author of the article considers the description of lexical categories with respect to their ability to represent evaluative knowledge which presupposes the study of their interpretative potential. It is argued that conceptual basis of the lexical category serves a starting point of interpretation and its interpretative potential. The latter is made up by the set of interpretative properties that are used for conceptualization of particular cognitive areas and provide configurations of interpretation modes.
