Abstract
The article concentrates on the issues of linguocognitive study of stylistic features of the language units foregrounding in the English-language literary text. In the article the main emphasis rests on the analysis of cognitive-stylistic potential of ac-cumulated functioning of the connective word but in the text of the story «England, my England» by D.H. Lawrence. The specific character of the foregrounding of the connective word but is achieved by its concentrated (recurrent) use within the limits of the small paragraphs. The primary attention in the process of text analysis is given to determination of a wide scope of means contributing to the foregrounding of the connective word but. Foregrounding of the connective word but in the text and the additional information serve as a basis for considering it as a special cognitive-conceptual structure.
