COGNITIVE MECHANISMS AND SEMANTICS OF LEXICALIZED FORMS OF PLURAL NOUNS

Abstract: 
The article deals with the study of cognitive mechanisms of lexicalization of plural nouns. The nature of metonymy and metaphor as well as their role in formation of new meanings are described. Some cognitive metonymical and metaphorical models of lexicalization are analyzed, and their classification is suggested.
