Abstract
The English language is a comparative late-comer to Ireland. Though it was slow to get established in Ireland, English eventually became the language used for all administrative and legal business and not only. The English of Ireland (or Hiberno-English) is not quite the English that is spoken elsewhere. Irish people have their own rhythms, vocabulary and grammar. Some features of the latter are being observed in this article.
