VERBAL DESCRIPTION: FROM CONTINUITY TO DISCONTINUITY

Verbal description is analyzed in terms of spatial cognition. It is shown that continuity of data perceived from the environment is interrupted on the level of mental imagery, and mechanisms of information processing specific for abstract thinking are formed. On the one hand, that simplified the translation of images into language units, but on the other hand demands special attention towards the compositional level of verbal description.
