Abstract
The article focuses on the problems, relating to the study of the role of different factors in forming figurative meanings of word-zoonyms and phraseological units in different language types. The regularities of figurative recomprehension of animal names in the language units are traced. Special attention is paid to the availability or the lack of figurative parallels, characteristic for phraseological zoonyms in languages of different types. The conclusion is made, that names of animals acquire varying from language to language semantic and culturological features. The prospects of further studies on the selected problems are also given on account of.
