Abstract
The article analyzes the use of word-building means of the Church Slavonic language in the modern Russian church-religious discourse on the example of ser-mons of archimandrite Ioann (Krestyankin). His works are written in high style. The analysis indicates that the sources of high style of the modern Russian language are still words, morphemes and word formation models borrowed from the Church Slavonic language. In the modern Russian language stylistically marked units are prefixes пре-, пред-, из-, воз-, со-, suffixes -ство-, -стви(j)-, -ейш/-айш-, and Church Slavonic models of complex words. Word-building means of the Church Slavonic language are the markers of high-style, showing the historical memory of Russian words and stylistic possibilities of the Russian language.
