MOTIVATION LOSS UNDER THE TRANSFORMATION OF ICONIC SIGN INTO SYMBOLIC SIGN

Abstract: 
The article considers the types of sign-carriers and possible transition of one type of the signs to the others. An attempt is made to show the transitional mechanism of motive language signs having a “secondary” iconic nature into motiveless signs-symbols through actualizing potential semes.
