Abstract
The article discusses an important trend in the novel of the Weimar Republic – antipsychologism, i.e. the reduction of the imaging the inner world, character’s emotional state. It is manifested in the dominance of visuality, the rejection of the character’s motivation. Antipsychologism is due, on the one hand, to the ideas about the insignificance of an individual in modern society, on the other hand, the influence of cinema. As an example the article discusses one of the key novels of the „new objectivism“ – the novel “Fabian” by E. Kestner.

Keywords:  antipsychologism, novel of “new objectivism”, visuality, literature and cinema
