Abstract
The aim of this article is exploration of the complimentary utterance on the basis of the cognitive approach. The author points out that the compliment represents the multicomponent structures of knowledge. The semantic structure of the comple-entary utterance includes three components: presuppositional, assertive and implicative. The interaction of these three components leads to the proper interpretation of the compliment
