Abstract
The paper generalizes the contemporary status quo in cognitive metaphor theory recognizing the universality of metaphor both for mind and language. It is also argued that not only bodily experience influences the creation of a metaphor, but culture and history in a broad and narrow sense are those factors that make conceptual metaphors culturally specific.

Keywords:  metaphor, conceptual metaphor, universal, culturally specific
