Abstract
The paper deals with what is conventionally referred to as “impersonal” sentences describing various meteorological phenomena including seasonal and lighting changes. An analysis of such texts from the cognitive-communicative point of view highlights the limitations of the traditional approach which overlooks the role of the observer / speaker.
