Abstract:
Non-equivalence of the notions “cognition” and “knowing” is emphasized; because cognition is a functional feature of living systems as unities of interactions, arguments are given against viewing linguistic cognition as a particular kind of human cognition, and human cognition is defined as intrinsically linguistic.
Keywords: сognition, language, living systems
