Abstract:
The article focuses on the importance of sociocultural cognitive dominants in translation of phrasemes with zoonym component. The sociocultural dominants represent culturally marked knowledge that reflects the experience of the interaction of native speakers with the world. The translator uses this knowledge for correctly interpret the meanings and their adequate transmission.
