ASSISTANT OR RIVAL? ON THE USE OF CONCEPTUAL ANALYSIS IN DIACHRONIC STUDIES

Abstract:  The paper focuses on diachronic analysis of particular realisations of the concept PLEASURE in English. Throughout history, both nominative field of the concept and its content have undergone considerable changes. It is argued that these changes are better considered within the frame of conceptual analysis rather than traditional semasiological studies.
