Abstract: The author describes the discourse completion test, which was worked out in pragmatic studies as a method of collecting and analyzing information about the realization of speech acts in different ethnic and sociocultural contexts and analyses the possibility of the interpretation of its results in the perspective of cognitive linguistics.
