Abstract:
The article deals with some questions of linguistic theory. Its subject is the language as a whole, with its cognitive and pragmatic functions and material structures manifesting these functions. Basing on a review of literature on the topic, the author argues that the “integrative linguistics” involves external and internal integrity. The most recent development in this sphere is the study of the salience network of the brain.
