Abstract
This work examines stylistic manifestation of figure-ground relationships in paintings in novels by Dina Rubina and Margaret Atwood. The research topicality lies in the application of the latest cognitive stylistic methods to approach the interconnection of verbal and visual media presented in the form of the ekphrasis in literary texts.
