Abstract:
The article treats Russian patriotism as a contested concept of political and mass media discourse and substantiates the key role of the figurative language in the discursive construction of Russian national identity. Based on the theory of critical discourse analysis and corpus methods, the study reveals the dominant metaphors of patriotism, pointing out to the variation in preferential metaphorical models.
