Abstract:
In the modern Russian media discourse trends in the use of gender-oriented designations of agents are increasing. It has caused the emergence of new names for professions that were not previously used in the Russian language, while in English the system of designations for ‘female’ professions is still quite traditional. The article attempts to establish the regularities of the use and translation of feminitives in the presence of traditional techniques and professional designations based on masculine nouns with a common meaning.
