Abstract
The paper examines communicatively-conditioned prerequisites of semiosis giving special emphasis to the interpretative function of linguistic signs and their ability to resonate. Semiotic resonance is treated as one of the most important means of discourse organization. Discourse organization depends upon semiotic resonance both in form and content and that presupposes the development of discourse, amplification of its meaning and ensures cognition. Semiotic resonance sets a functional frame to discourse by providing prerequisites to semiosis. Semiosis in its turn as a language universal shows direction of inferential meaning-construction in discourse accompanied by the processes of modification and transformation.
