Abstract: The article analyses the category of reproducibility, which historically was viewed by linguists as either an integrating or a differentiating feature of language - speech - communication units. The author sets forth the specificity of reproducing phraseological units, which is markedly different from repetition (quotation, replication, circulation) of speech units.
