TERMINOLOGICAL EPONYMY IN THE SOCIO-CULTURAL CONTEXT (based on English psychology terms)

Abstract: 
The paper represents the results of the research aiming at identifying the specific features of English psychological eponymic terms within the cultural direction of cognitive linguistics. The obtained data confirm the existence of universal and culture-specific English psychology terms-eponyms. The author also discusses the socio-cultural functions of eponyms, such as axiological, holistic, solidarizing, modeling, along with the memorial and identifying functions that have already been highlighted in the scientific literature.
